İSTANBUL ASMALI MESCİT'S NEW EXHIBITION SPACE LABİRENT SANAT WILL OPEN BY THE FIRST EXHIBITION NAMED “LABYRINTH: UNKNOWN ISLAND” ON 27 SEPTEMBER 2018…

"Labyrinth: Unknown Island" exhibition, the labyrinth, which has a strong place in the collective memory as a metaphor, instead of the negative connotations that stimulate moods such as fear, dilemma, curiosity, disappearance, death and chaos; Today, it is based on reading as a network of new possibilities, opening to the discovery of the lines of deterritorialization, the fascist forms of relationship that surround, form, direct and standardize the subject to get rid of capitalist commodification, and to experience new forms of subjectivity.

The labyrinth is constructed for the one entering to get lost, but at the same time it prepares an uprising for the person entering to create an infinite number of ways in a limited space and to reverse the power of the labyrinth. Instead of getting lost in the labyrinth, to take shelter of the uniformity of daily life means to submit to the rule of mathematical, rational and dictating system to escape chaos.

"In the reality getting lost is not losing or failure; It is a situation open to surprises, which gives chance to create, to discover the unknown and to learn."

In the exhibition curated by Hande Özdilim, you can have a look at the works of Barış Cihanoğlu, Beyza Boynudelik, Burçin Erdi and Özge Enginöz on the concept of “labyrinth” between 27 September - 16 November 2018 at Labirent Sanat in Asmalı Mescit.
